I and my future wife stayed here for 30 days to establish a Scottish residence in order to get married. We were here during the month of December 1964 until the 1st week of January 1965. My future wife was Italian and I a active duty sailor with the U S sixth fleet. It was so cold here and I recall having to put a coin in the bedroom heater every so often for heat. (a shilling?) I recall a ex wren (female) living there also. We shared the TV downstairs.
I don't recall the costs but our meals were provided during our stay. Just be on time for meals. Not familiar with the city but we walked to a lot of places and going to some big church on Christmas eve. A ex wren took us out on New Years eve and a good time was had. Enjoyed the city & people.
Brrrr it was cold.
